DMr. Pratap Padode, Founder and Director of Smart Cities Council India, INDIA
Pratap Padode, has specialised in financial research when he set up Corporate & Economic Research Centre in 1986 and developed financial models to evaluate corporate performance. He pioneered equity research in India by launching India’s most successful specialised equity journal. He is the founder of ASAPP Info Global Group and his passion for infrastructure over last 17 years is reflected in the innovative thought leadership through ten specialised magazines, conferences & awards organised in the fields of construction, infrastructure & engineering. Further he is the President of FIRST (Foundation of Infrastructure Research Studies Training) which was set up in 2003, that brings out research reports and newsletters on various infrastructure segments. His research encompasses construction, infrastructure, real estate, economy and finance sectors. He has received the award for his research in the construction sector at CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2010 at the hands of Dr C Rangarajan, Chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Committee. Since early 2014 he has been promoting the move to smart, sustainable cities and contributing to Smart Cities Council Partners’ business success through advocacy and action, as the Founder Director of the Smart Cities Council India.

He is also co-founder and director of EnerComp Solutions Pvt Ltd and SR Energy Solutions, working in areas of Software Development, ERP implementation for all types of Industries, Smart Grid, technical consultancy and electrical equipment export consultancy.
He is the co-founder and managing director of Indimedi Solutions Pvt Ltd. an IT platform to interconnect all healthcare stakeholders. Presently Indimedi also provides Hospital Management Software and consultancy related to IT infrastructure of Hospitals as well as ERP (Odoo) implementation services.
In past, he worked with Gujarat Power Sector upto 31st January 2013, in GEB/UGVCL/GUVNL for 28 years leading new initiatives like Smart Grid, SCADA, RAPDRP, Energy Management Center, Technical partnership in Nigeria on behalf of UGVCL, other than heading IT, Civil, HR departments of GUVNL / UGVCL. Thus, having a rich experience in implementing new technology in electricity distribution in India as well as Nigeria. Since 1980, he worked on Construction of Sabarmati Thermal Power Stations (Torrent/AEC), Ukai Thermal Power Station, Construction of 400KV Vadavi & Soja Substation and other 220KV, 132KV & 66KV substations, 220KV transmission lines etc.
Dr.Suryanarayana Doolla, IIT Bombay, India
Dr. Suryanarayana Doolla is an Associate professor at IIT Bombay in the Energy Science and Engineering Department. He was with Power Research and Development Center PRDC, Bangalore (2009) and Machine 2 Machine Hyderabad (2006-2008).
Research Areas: Smart grids, Microgrids, Converter topologies and control, Communication protocol for power systems, Grid integration of Distributed Energy Systems and power system operation and control.
He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for Electric Power Components and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Applications and IEEE Electrication Magazine. He is also editorial Board Member for International Journal of Sustainable Energy (Taylor & Fransis). Electrical Power Components and Systems, IEEE Electrification Magazine. Prof. Narayana Prasad Padhy, IIT Roorkee, INDIA
Padhy has been Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee since 2008, and is a Chair Professor of The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO).
He has made fundamental contributions in the areas of power system economics and distribution network pricing with renewable energy source which is of prime importance to CERC (Central Electricity Regulatory Commission) and SERC (State Electricity Regulatory Commission) of India. Few of his algorithms have been tested in field by utilities of developed countries. His contributions have made substantial impact on research area of modern power systems deregulation at both the national and international levels. He is also actively involved in the R&D activities of NEEPCO (North East Electric Power Company).
Dr Praveen Kumar, IIT Guwahati, INDIA
Dr. Praveen Kumar is Assistant Professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. has core expertise of both Industry and Academics. Earlier he was Team Leader of Hybrid Systems group in Drive Trains Innovation B.V., The Netherlands; Co-Founder of elmoCAD GmbH, Germany; Development Engineer at Trimeric GmbH, Germany and Durr AG, Germany. He received the M.Tech. degree in energy system from IIT Delhi, India in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, in 2008.
His research activities are in optimization of electrical motors and drives; State of the art algorithm development for Multi-objective optimization and Simulation; and design of electrical motors and actuators using Finite Element Methods; besides years long hands on experience with analytical modeling of electrical motors for rapid simulation.
Prof. David Koilpillai, IIT Madras, INDIA
David Koilpillai has been Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras since June 2002, and is a member of the Telecommunications and Computer Networking (TeNeT) group. His research and teaching focus is in the areas of DSP and wireless communications. He received the B.Tech degree from IIT Madras in 1984, and the MS and PhD degrees (all in Electrical Engineering) from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1985 and 1990 respectively. Since 1990, David has been at Ericsson, where he has held different technical and managerial positions, within the Ericsson R&D center at Research, Triangle Park, North Carolina.
In 2000, he became the Director of the Advanced Technologies and Research Department and a member of the global management team of Ericsson Mobile Platforms, an Ericsson company developing all components of mobile phone technology. In this role, he was responsible for an R&D team of 75 engineers developing GPRS/EDGE technology. David has actively provided technical inputs to Ericsson efforts in 3G standardization, and has been presenting extensively on 3G and cellular evolution.
David's technical areas of expertise include 2.5G/3G cellular systems, and DSP techniques for wireless communications. His technical contributions at Ericsson have resulted in 27 US patents, 9 journal papers and 23 conference publications. In 1999, David received the Ericsson Inventor of the Year award, the highest technical recognition within Ericsson. In addition, he has received numerous management awards for contributions in the areas of technical management and intellectual property rights. He has served as a technical expert for Ericsson in technology-related litigations.
Dr Bharat Singh Rajpurohit, IIT Mandi, INDIA
He is working as Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering at IIT Mandi. His research interests include power system operation and control, power electronics, and grid integration of renewable energy sources. He is a member of ISTE and IEEE. He received the M.Tech. degree in Power Apparatus and Electric Drive from IIT Delhi and the Ph.D. degree from IIT Kanpur in 2009. He was a research fellow at KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks in University of Cyprus from April 2009 to August 2010.
Souvnik Roy, GERMI, INDIA
Souvnik Roy is working as a Project officer in the Consultancy head of Solar Research Wing in Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI). He has been in the solar consultancy industry for four (4) years and his area of expertise includes Project management and technical aspects of large scale solar projects including solar park, ground mounted MW size systems and rooftop systems. He has Project management consultancy (PMC) experience of more than 50 MW. In addition to grid tied solar system, Souvnik Roy has experience in design, implementation and execution of Microgrid systems. He has pursued Masters of Engineering in Sustainable Energy from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne, Australia and Bachelors of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Nirma University, Ahmedabad. In addition to this he also holds a Graduate Diploma degree in Engineering and Management from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.
